Yep. This will be a short post. Because…we’re still waiting for wind. It’s been 13 days since the 5 hour boomerang departure attempt. In that time, we’ve fixed the things that broke. Then we fixed some more things that broke. All while waiting for some wind. And waiting. And waiting. This week, we replaced the water pump for our fridge and freezer. We also cleaned all the marine growth out of the hoses that service the pump. So, finally, we have decent water flow through the system.

In another milestone, I joined the “Repair Marine Toilets Society”. We had our toilets installed about 18 months ago and they have worked flawlessly since then. On Valentine’s Day (of course), I returned to the boat from a walk to Kim saying “the toilet is making a terrible noise.” Lovely. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Sweetie! I love you too!” So, I disassembled the toilet. In a twist of fate, I had purchased an e-book version of a complete guide to marine sanitation systems just a couple of days prior “just in case”. Was that foreknowledge? Foreshadowing? ESP? Don’t know. But it had a detailed exploded diagram of our toilet. Happy day. Anyway, I disassembled the macerator blade and impeller (those are the parts that chop up and move along the waste-yep it was great. I wore gloves.). There was a surprising amount of hair wrapped around the blade. Where would that come from, you ask? Well, look at a picture of the two of us. I’m just saying. When I ran the motor after cleaning it all up, it was silent. Good deal. I put it all back together and ran it again-it made a terrible grinding noise. WTH? Then, glancing down, I see something floating in the bottom of the toilet bowl. Lo and behold a plastic cap from the seat is down there. Fished it out and the toilet runs perfectly. How did this part end up in the toilet, you ask? It was Valentine’s Day. I have no comment.
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, we cooked. Homemade baguettes, cacio e pepe with homemade pasta, and a chocolate brownie for dessert. That’s a win. We finished the evening with a cheesy romance movie on Netflix. It was standard Hallmark Channel fare pretty much. But a couple nights previously we had watched Moonstruck. Now THERE is a movie!

Anyway, we feel pretty ready to get out of here. We just need wind. Looking at the forecast, it looks like we may have an opportunity on Friday. Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, you can do us a favor! We’ve got a new video out on YouTube. Head over and check it out. It would really help us if you could like the video and leave us a comment. People engaging with the video helps YouTube display it in search results, which would help us feel like its worth doing. Frankly, it’s currently an embarrassment. When I search YouTube for “Meraviglia” I can’t even get our channel to show up in my search results. That’s like the definition of “nobody cares about you”. So please like, comment, subscribe. Have pity on us. Plus, next week’s video shows some actual sailing. And swearing. If that’s not a draw, I don’t know what is.
Throw a little positive energy our way and maybe next week’s post will be from us actually underway!

As with all of life’s wonderfully unexpected twists and turns, I am sure that all you have to do is…”snap out of it”!

Sometimes I feel like I could snap at any moment!

Hah too funny that you’re competing with the MSC Meraviglia cruise ship. Hopefully your search results will improve as you post more videos. Also make sure you have your channel and videos tagged and have good descriptions. SEO is a black art😂
This life teaches us patience like nothing else I’ve experienced. Best to stay patient rather than busting out into shit weather!
