Hi, I’m Bob
I grew up in Brecksville, Ohio, suburb of Cleveland. As a kid, I spent summers with the family on our boat on Lake Erie. First, it was a Morgan 30, Lots O’ Knots. Then, my parents bought a 1976 Tartan 34, Spirit. We spent every summer weekend on the boat, daysailing and also some racing in the Sandusky, Ohio area. My first boat was our 8 foot tender that Dad added a sailing rig to. As pre-teen, I got a Laser and learned a lot about boat-handling and single-handing. I loved it all.
Then, life came along: college, medical school, marriage, kids, work-all the usual things-and sailing pretty much disappeared.
In 2021, we went to Maine to visit Kim’s family. They owned a small sailboat and took us out for the day. That was all it took. It all came flooding back and I was hooked. Again. Thank goodness I have a wife who is down for the craziness!
