Something a bit different this week: Kim made an appearance as a guest on a sailing podcast! Cool! The Morning Muster Sailing Podcast is produced by Ben and Teresa Carey of Morse Alpha Expeditions. Morse Alpha is Ben’s and Teresa’s sailing school up in Maine. We met them last year when they taught at Cruisers University in Annapolis. Together, they have many years of sailing experience on both commercial and recreational vessels.
The topic of this episode of The Morning Muster is “Oops! My Boat’s Too Big.” Kim appears alongside John Harries, a veteran sailor who runs Attainable Adventure Cruising, a reference site for offshore sailing. The topic? Whether Meraviglia is more boat than we can handle. Kim reports it was fun to do the episode and she learned some things too! Personally, I’m not sure I agree with the conclusion, but time will tell!
If you like, you can check out the episode HERE or, as they say, “wherever you get your podcasts”.
As you listen, we are on our way to Panama, as the weather shifted our way. Hurray! We left today and should arrive on Friday-our longest passage to date. If you want to track our progress, you can do so HERE.
To get ready, I had to repair some chafe in our mainsail. There was a lot of sewing. But hopefully we’re all good!
Next up-Shelter Bay Marina in Panama to get a date to transit the canal! We hope.

What’s the itinerary after Panama crossing ?

Hi Carole,
After we transit the canal in December, we’re back in the States for the holidays. Then, in January or February, we’ll look for a good weather window to cross the Pacific. It’s about 3 weeks from Panama to The Marquesas. We’ll explore French Polynesia and then make our way through the South Pacific islands, eventually arriving in New Zealand next fall. That, of course, assumes things go well and we are still enjoying it. Best to you and Keith!!

That’s beautiful stitching but not a suture technique I remember from training!

True! Pediatrics may not be veterinary medicine, but it’s not sailing either!
