Hi, you have a cutter rigged boat. Do you use the staysail much and if so, when do you use it? thanks!

We don’t use it that much, frankly. We would probably use it more if we had it on a furler, but since it’s hank-on, it’s just a lot of hassle to drag it out of the sail locker and get it rigged. Plus, it’s really only a benefit when sailing closer to the wind than a beam reach. On downwind angles, it just blankets the genoa. We have used it mainly on upwind passages when the wind is too strong for the genoa-rather than reef the genoa, we fly the staysail instead.
